Beyond Therapy is an absurd, black comedy play, written in 1981 by Christopher Durang, that satirizes modern life, relationships, and the incompetence of pop psychology and therapy. The play follows two neurotic Manhattanties, Prudence and Bruce, whose disastrous first date, arranged via a personal ad, is further complicated by their equally disturbed and wildly inappropriate therapists.
Stefanie Gilbert plays Prudence, the female lead character!
The play originally opened off Broadway at the Phoenix Theatre in New York in 1981 where it starred Sigourney Weaver as Prudence and Stephen Collins as Bruce! Beyond Therapy premiered on Broadway in 1982, where it starred Diane Wiest as Prudence and John Lithgow as Bruce!
